Remember I was so excited to fly back home few weeks ago to celebrate Chinese New Year. And now it almost come to an end already. It is always fast for good time to past. It is about 2 weeks already since Chinese New Year. It has never been better to visit and saw lots of relatives that will only meet once a year. Haven't get to visit your friends? siblings? Not to worries, you still get the chance to do last minute visiting before new year really ends because it is still counted as new year before the 15th day of the lunar calendar ends.
The 15th day and also the last day of Chinese New Year is basically known as Chap Goh Meh/Mei. There is some tradition that is still practice until these days for Chap Goh Meh. Do you ever heard of 'bao gan'? I believe most of the chinese would know about this.
'Bao Gan' is usually done by the single lady. They will get the mandarin orange and wrote their name and number on it the throw it into the lake or river. Meanwhile on the other side, the single mean will awaits the lady to throw the mandarin orange and they will have to pick up the mandarin ornage using net of course which is called 'lau' in chinese.
The eldest also say that, those who can make it will live happily with their partner happily ever after. I do not how true it is but every year this activity is still going on and I am proud that our tradition is still passing through the generation.
